IFE Sailing Team

IFE Sailing team was established as a part of the Saling Club of Technical University of Lodz. Altogether we are the students of different specializations at the IFE department. Our main goal is to take part in the largest European regatta and challenge the best international crews. This year the EDHEC regatta took place in France (17-24th of April, Brest). The Event itself was a great opportunity for us to represent Poland and the Technical University of Lodz.

Looking back at 42nd CCEDHEC regatta

We arrived to Brest on 13th of April and next day we started our training. We had three days to get known the yacht and learn how to work together. The beginning was not easy but within a time we were better and better. Progress that we made during these few days and the experience that we gained was extremely useful for our performance during the races. On 17th of April there was official opening of the regatta. That was the time to start real competition between 170 yachts and crews from the whole world starting in 7 different groups. In our group (HNC) there were 21 yachts. We had the opportunity to take check ourselves in various types of races (including the 2 days voyage Brest – Douarnenez – Brest). Weather conditions were generally very good – sunny and windy (for most of the time) which makes, the sailing even a bigger pleasure. Competition between crews was very strong and serious but it gave high motivation. Everybody did their best. In the general classification we were on the 18th place in the group and on the 14th among the international crews. As for the first start in such a regatta the results are satisfactory. And except of that we have learnt a lot, gained valuable experience and spent great time with fantastic people. We hope it will be useful next year.
